10 Good Reasons To Go

  • You really have no idea what you want to do and need to spend some quality time thinking about it
  • You know what you want to do and your current employer is holding you back.
  • Your finances are not going to allow you to leave work and ‘find yourself’
  • You hate your job and can’t stand being there another minute and no one can tell you otherwise
  • You haven’t fully resolved issues that may change your perspective on your existing employer and the potential opportunities there
  • You enjoy your job but the company does not share your values and ethics
  • You always feel this way once you have worked for a company for a little while – time to think long and hard about what you want to do before taking the next step
  • There is no prospect of future work and/or progression with the company
  • You have been promised a promotion within a set period of time and management tend to keep their promises
  • Someone has offered you the job of your dreams or at the very least an immediate promotion
  • You have only just joined your current employer and have had a disjointed couple of years moving from job to job
  • Promises of promotion, training and career progression are repeatedly reneged on by the company
  • The person(s) making your work life a misery is/are reported to be leaving
  • Your function is reportedly on the chopping block in the company restructure and you haven’t been there that long
  • There is considerable quantifiable bonus or redundancy payout within 3-6 months that is unlikely to be matched by a new employer
  • The company is in serious financial difficulties and is looking likely to go into receivership
  • Despite all the negatives that come with the job it does allow you to lead a lifestyle you are unlikely to secure anywhere else. Talk to your employer about improving your job satisfaction.
  • The company is experiencing a prolonged period of bad press and its reputation is irreparably tarnished taking your good name with it
  • You have no job to go to
  • You don’t want to end up like the people around you

Once you have made the decision to move stick with it.  When it comes to making a decision on an offer of employment look back to this point and evaluate whether the new opportunity addresses your needs.
